The Happy Kitchen /
La Cocina Alegre
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Happy Kitchen / La Cocina Alegre® — cooking classes and nutrition education — teaches participants the importance and benefits of eating healthy foods and instructs them in how to cook nutritious, low-cost meals using fresh, locally-sourced foods. The long-term goals for participants are to learn good nutrition habits using local and seasonal produce while having fun, and to inspire them to make lifestyle changes that will impact participants’ and their families’ overall health.
**We DO NOT accept pre-registration or reservations for classes. Participants must show up to either the first and/or second class in a series to register.
Scheduled Classes
We are The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre.
We share food knowledge and cooking skills with our communities.
We foster community spaces where people can be comfortable.
Where they can gather, learn, eat, and, grow together.
We transform libraries, churches, community centers,
and school classrooms into kitchens.
Kitchens filled with colorful, seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Smells of onion and garlic sizzling in a pan,
and the laughter of people talking and learning together.
We show each other how to cook something familiar, and maybe something new, and send bags of groceries home with people to feed their families.
We are The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre.
We envision a just, equitable and regenerative food
system where people and the environment thrive, and
we work to transform our communities
one classroom and one family at a time.
